Exped was born from a very specific kind of conviction. Founders Andi and Heidi Brun spent nine months living off the land in the Canadian wilderness in 1981 — an experience that shaped everything about how they would eventually design gear. The Swiss-based brand they built starting in 1997 reflects that philosophy directly: precise, stripped of anything unnecessary, and built to perform in conditions where failure isn't an option. Exped is best known for its sleeping mats — the 2001 DownMat was an industry-changing product — but the line extends to tents, packs, sleeping bags, and travel accessories, all carrying the same emphasis on durability and intelligent design. With US operations based in Tacoma, Exped has deep roots in the Pacific Northwest community and a brand story that resonates with the serious outdoor consumer who wants gear designed by people who actually use it.
